Internet Connections

World Wide Web

There are various ways to connect to the Internet. We provide service for the following type of connections:

Dial Up Connections

Use a modem and your telephone line to connect to service provider which provides access to internet services. You will need a modem installed inside your computer or can use an external modem.

Dial-up modems can be be slow but are the only kind of Internet connection you can get when on the road.

ADSL Connections

Use a modem designed for high speed connections and your telephone line to connect to your service provider and access their internet services. You will need a modem, network card and a telephone line.

Cable Connections

Use a cable modem and your cablevision line to connect to your service provider and access their internet services. You will need a cable modem, network card and a cablevision connection.

Cable modems put your computer in the same 'logical' network neighborhood as your neighbors. All the computers connected to cable in your neighborhood think they are on the same network and try to communicate with each other, that is one of the reasons it is SO important to have a software or hardware firewall with a cable modem. Also, the number of people in your neighbourhood using cable at the same time will affect the speed of your connection.
